 | REN FAIR 2002! Since no one else has yet, and they're probably all busy watching anime, I think I'll start this thread (it'd get started eventually anyway ^_^).
Today, today being Saturday, which was technically yesterday, but I really don't care, Dia, Nekogami, Reako, Pervy, Brainwalker, Sean, Koss/White Knight, DC and I all met up at the Ohio Renassiance Festival for the day...and let me tell you, it was a blast. I don't know if I really want to write everything out, but let me summarize some of the cooler things we did:
-Since Dia was carrying a sign that said "CORN" on it, we were stopped and asked questions roughly every 5 minutes by passerby in costume as to what the meaning of the sign was. I think we told a slightly different story to everyone who asked, actually. o_o
-We got to see people eat fire and lay on a bed of spikes. Brainwalker was selected from the crowd to STAND ON A WOMAN ON A BED OF NAILS. It was pretty cool. ^_^
-We got to act like vikings and yell "RAR!" while we watched people fight and play tug of war in the mud.
-We got to try on a bunch of medieval clothing, didn't buy anything, and mildly irritate several vendors. XD
-Neko spoke in an olde english accent the ENTIRE TIME, and it was VERY convincing, as evidenced by this AIM quote:
SlyFox565: I didn't know Amanda had an english accent. It sounded pretty real. She wasn't faking it was she?
Arch mage144: She was faking that. XD
Arch mage144: VERY well, mind you.
-I bought myself a new sword, recieved a pair of daggers as a present, and got to binge on Pocky.
-DC bought a traveler's rain cloak with a hood and clasp, a black one with green insides. It's sweet.
-Koss/White Knight purchased what can only be described as "a fuzzy tail" and stuck it in his pants so it looked like he had a tail, and walked around with it like that.
-I can safely and honestly say that this weekend was the best day of my life, ever, thus far. o_o
Photos will probably be coming soon--we got some group pics, and someone took a picture of BW on the stage during the daredevil act, and DC also got a picture of me wearing an extremely overpriced red mage's style hat that I was utterly unable to afford, but got to try on ^_^.
Anyone else who was there have anything to add?

 | Bah. Not making me jealous. Now that I have four swords. If I had a webcam, I would proceed to show you up...And then I'd show off my stab wound. Heh, Brian may have mentioned this, but the sword on my belt had stabbed through the end of the scabbard. So when I leaped off a bleacher, the tip aimed directly for the crevace between my boot and my foot. And then it penetrated flesh. It was quite painful...left me hobbling around for a minute or so, but after that, I hardly noticed it...until I got home, removed my boot, and found a large blood stain on my sock, and a dark, bleeding slit on my skin. However!...
Thanks to Amanda's care and Dia's mom's supplies, we avoided the need for stitches...of course, I ruined two perfectly good socks...oh well.
But yes! I thoroughly enjoyed myself. The merciless sun through my thick black costume, the suffocating allergies, the stab wound, and lack of money, the failure of my DVD to work on Dia's PS2, and the severe sleep deficiency...were absolutely NOTHING compared to how happy being with everyone made me. I can only imagine how ecstatic I would have been without all the irritations. I'm sorry, to those who didn't go, but these are the moments that you feel truly grateful to be alive. And even though we weren't all hugging the whole time, or praising each other every second, there was just an impressive essence of love between us. Anyone who went will say the same. Now for my thank yous...
-Dia: Thanks for your fascinating company and the awesome necklace. That's probably the most attractive thing I have to wear at the moment. And also, for putting up with all of us, especially me raping your house and giving your poor mother a heart attack trying to please us and drive us 60 miles at our whim. Also, thanks for organizing it so well. It could have been much worse indeed. I appologize really for not putting your CD back in the case.
-Brian (AM): Discussing this and that with you is like doing so with my own brother. But not one of those obnoxious, annyoing brothers. More like the ones who grow up liking the same stuff you do, but are individual enough to have your own taste. It's a pure joy to just be there and joke with you. Your inclusion in our excursion was invaluable, and I only wish you could have stayed the night.
-Amanda: So caring and sweet and cool. My mom adored you, and it's easy to see why. You have this aura of vitality about you, and it makes everyone around you happy. Yet it's not too overbearing and you don't hog the spotlight. Thanks much for tending my gash. ^_^ I may not have showed it but I really appreciate it. It was cool playing GGX with you, and talking websites/artwork.
-Kate:You weren't very talkative...but I could tell how utterly nice you are. I wanted to speak more while I had the chance, but of course, we all squeezed in as much communication as we could. Thanks for just being there and laughing at our jokes and popping in your own funny from time to time. Thanks so much for coming all that way on the train carrying all those bags, and having to give up brian so early when the rest of us stayed behind. I know how hard that can be.
-Mike: As funny as online. Diane found a good man in you. Or as we call "Jesus" cuz of your long hair and beard. Also, thanks for staying up with Brian and I to watch Geobreeders. I didn't get in much conversation with you, but I would've much enjoyed it. I think I shall very much look forward to seeing you again. And your sexy tail. ~_^
-Brian: Such a personality. Just fun to be with. And you drove me all over the place! That was sweet of you, dude. I'm glad you got to play GGX and Gitaroo Man. And also, thanks for going up on stage and making an ass of yourself for our entertainment. Joking! Actually, you were very cool up there. Much cooler than that Olaf guy at the Mud Show...I suppose now we are sword brothers since we own the same style katana.
-Pervy: You didn't say a whole lot, but it was highly concentrated Pervy goodness. You are so like your avatar it's frightening. In other words, a man who is fortified with nothing but scurvy goodness. Thank you so much for your time and words, and also for sitting through all the possibly irritating things I did. You were quite the content person, and it did nothing but make the atnosphere more enjoyable.
-Reako: Sure, we didn't talk much, but I'm regretting it. It's a shame you were only there for a few hours...but thinks for convincing your dad to bring you when he could. It was well worth the limited time to have you along with us; and in the future, you will have to meet us again.
-And last but not least, Diane's mom: The whole time, I had a mounting feeling as if I was slaving you around. Everything you did while we were there was for our benefit, and it resulted in thus.I can think of no times when I've felt more hospitability. Or even a serene, devoted sense of unconditional care. Diane is one blessed girl. From little things, like helping us make pancakes or making sure we were all fed, to the major things like letting so many people invade your house, driving so many miles in the course of a day or two, and helping me with my wound. I hope I get to see again, truly.
Yes, folks. It was quite a casual day or two in superficial temperament. We laughed like regular friends do, we talked as if we were still in the chatroom...but the underlying embrace of a niche was with us all. A company for us and us alone. I have felt this before with my close friends in and around Chicago, and I felt it again yesterday and today. I swear that I will do my best to make myself ready for the next time we meet. It makes me think of the concept of love being supreme...because in feeling that compassion that was among us, I felt almost immortal...as if all of my problems were mere itches left to ignore. All of my troubles weighed lightly and wofted away, and I hope they did for all of you too.
Domo arigatou.

You're a good guy, Sean, and I'm glad to have been able to make your acquaintence.
And on the note of Kate: I'm infinitely glad to have met her, too. ^_^

 | Re: Koosh! I must say, Sean is not exaggerating in the least. I can't even remember the last time I had so much fun. I put 320 miles on my car this weekend, and spent all my money, almost melted, and goddamnit, I'd do it again in a second. I'm still flabbergasted by the amount of love and closeness I felt. I started horribly missing everybody five minutes after I overzealously glomped (off the ground, in a couple cases) everybody and parted ways. Man, we should all just combine our resources and get some bigass house somewhere and live together. Start some kind of crazy web/game design company or something. I love you guys!
I'd have to say, Sean said pretty much everything I would have said better than I could have said it... but dammit, I'm going to say some stuff anyway!
Oh, but before I do that... :: glomps Sean :: You only got one of those from me
Amanda is, quite possibly, the coolest person I've ever met. She's always caring, often playfully rowdy, sporatically British / Japanese, and in character half the time. Sean summed it up pretty well... she's so damn warm and fuzzy, if you spend any amount of time around her, you will be smiling. If you're not, there's something seriously wrong with you. Seriously. She even made us all breakfast Saturday morning. Them was some damn fine omelettes.
Dia's mom is quite possibly the coolest othermom I've ever met. I swear, she let a bunch of rowdy youngsters invade her living room, drink her vanilla coke, and dirty her dishes and cutlery. Hell, she even Drove us all over the damn place and was cheerful the whole time. Dia's mom is hospitality incarnate. Dia, you've got to thank your mom for me again for putting up with us crazy kids
Diane... wow. Man, I'm so glad I got to meet her. Here's the break down of my arrival ad Diane's house:
*knock knock*
*footsteps... *clatter* *creeak* "Hi!" "Hi." "Hello."
GLOMP!!
Man, I've never felt so welcome amongst people I'm not actually related to in my entire life. Dia is every bit as hospitable as her mom, only she's my age, and just as crazy as the rest of us RPGWWers are She gave each and every one of us a specialized little "cool thing" at the festival, took responsibilty for attempting to not lose anyone, provided pocky while we were waiting for Reako, and she even (attempted) to make us pancakes this (Friday) morning. She may not be able to cook worth beans, but she's a damn nice person, and she's dating Jesus! I mean, KOSS! I mean... Mike!
Mike was also damn groovy. He let me call him Young Jesus, and he had a tail! I didn't really discuss much at lenght with Mike, but he's a cool guy. Talented in the comedic arts, as well. Some of the best laughs were inspired by the words of Mike. Dude, thanks for taking the effort to fly up and hang with us
Brian and Kate are so koosh cute together that I'm seriously considering putting some effort into some chibi Brian+Kate fanart. I'm so glad Brian was able to convince his insane parents to let him live a little, and that Kate made the extreme effort to come be a part of the comraderie. Kate doesn't really say much, so it was a pleasure for me to have her ride in my car and be able to chat with her a bit. She's really quite a sweet and amiable person, and her eyes and her smile are really a wonderous sight to behold. It's too bad the other Brian already laid a claim on that property Ow! Kidding, kidding! Seriously, though, Brian and Kate rock. Also, since Brian's dad came to pick him up and knows we're not all a bunch of middle-aged pedophiles, maybe his parents will loosen up a bit and let him hang out a little more in the future
As for Pervy... well, I've known him personally for years. He's a crazy bastard, but he knows I love him. C'mere, you crazy son of a bitch! :: heartily bearhugs CP ::
Sean... dammit, you bastard! You wrote up that awesome post explaining in depth just how groovy this whole crazy excursion was. Now, none of us can post anything to compare! Seriously, though... I never really got to know you online, and I'm glad I got to meet you in person. Much like Kenshin, you are a subtle kind of groovy that really, really grows on a person. I don't mind driving someone all over the place when they're all nifty like that, and when they supply Wierd Al for us to jam to
I'm afraid my webcam sucks, so I can't get a decent picture of the sweet sword I bought, but I'm afraid Sean and I are indeed sword brothers now. Although I'm certain he would whup my ass.
Also, Sean does not exaggerate. I did indeed make a total fool of myself, and by God, I enjoyed every minute of it. It's so underwhelming when you go to one of those interactive kinda shows, and the audience member they choose to go up there and do something is some uninterested less-than-extatic turnshae that would rather be back in their seat. I mean, how often do you get a chance like that? It was freaking hot out there, and I came and paid my $14.00 to have some fun, dammit! So that's exactly what I did. Actually, I think the the two performers felt the same way, 'cause they commented on what a good job I was doing. Hell, I even got a kiss from that woman I stood on. Although, I think that was a part of the act
I was a world-class, Grade A HAM. And Sean took pictures to prove it!
Ahh, man, it's so hard for words to convey the true feelings of the human heart. All I can say is that I don't think I've ever enjoyed myself so much in my entire life, nor felt so much a natural part of something. In fact, the only concievable downside to this excursion was that Teh Rube, DM, and Will were planning to come but couldn't make it.
Well, okay, that, and I appear to have left my shinai at Diane's house. Aaand, that I grossly underprepared for spending two nights in Kentucky and several hours under the blazing Ohio sun. I swear, next time I'm taking like 4 shirts, 4 pairs of socks and underwear, a towel, and some comfy PJs
One final note.... if at some point, one of us ORFers shouts "Koosh!", "RAH!" or "Corn!", chances are, it's a good thing. | Brainwalker

 | Piracy I miss you guys, I really do. ;_;
BW and I got a little lost on the way there, but we navigated well enough. BW reads a map better than I, but I'm good with roadsigns, so we got there before anyone else. And we Shouted OVER THE BRIDGE! ! repeatedly as we crossed the Ohio River. This became a tradition. *Sage Nod*
I loved meeting you all so much. It was so nice to see my Sis in person, then meet Amanda a few hours later. Amanda is a wonderful cook, by the way. Any who deny this shall for ever regret this! Playing Bullshit (A Card Game) as our favored RP characters was so much fun! ^^
Then Koss came, as we watched Anime. Man, so much stuff I hadn't gotten to see before! Dragon Half, a few eps of Slayers, Some of Slayers Try the next night. BW and I also showed off Project A-Ko and Geobreeders. Koss was hard at work MSTing, but that didn't ruin the experience... most of the time
I got to sleep on the floor! I'm the tallest of the group, and got stuck with the tiniest Couch. After awhile, I just gave up, moved my pillow and blanket to the floor, and had a fitful rest. Maybe four hours worth. But It was enough.
As some of you in the chat know, I also snuck onto Dia's computer at 2AM friday night, and was very tempted to use her account to mod your all Did I? Find out!
The next day, we had breakfast by Amanda, who was both a good cook and a good sassy british cook Let me tell you; the eggs she scrambled for me were delicious! We Played some Super Smash Bros. Melee on BW's Cubey. While we played, Dia and Neko constructed the Corn Sign. Ci Added his trademark kitty to it. Then Neko added a dragon. Later, at the gates outside the RF, I wrote in 'Cabbit not Included'
At about twelve AM, we piled out into the two cars, BW's and Dia's Mom's (Hitherto to be called Mom). Neko rode with BW and I, while Koss and Dia stuck with Mom. We went to the bus station, and picked up Kate, while proudly waving about the Corn Sign. She saw it, and got us from behind.
After many greetings and Huggles (on my Part), we set out to get Sean, with Kate in BW's car. We followed Mom for awhile, and got most of the way there before she got lost after getting off the highway. Luckily, Amanda knew the way, so she switched Cars.
I had not had much contact with Sean, and didn't really know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised to see how groovy he was. ^^ We need to get this man a scanner. Now. He draws like a sumbitch. He piled in With Kate, BW, and I, And shared his wonderful sketches with us ^^ He also came in a homemade leather costume, with his own Broadsword! (I brought my Cutlass, so Kate could wear it)
The RM was wonderful. Dia gave us all gifts. I got a bird plushie's several head on a necklace! BW got a kitten plushie, Sean a dragon necklace. I don't recall what everyone else got. Kate strapped on my Cutlass, and we were ready to go!
We gathered at the front Gate, Proudly waving the Corn Sign (This was the point I added in 'Cabbit not Included'). AM found us quickly enough, and we waited for Reako, while tearing into Three Boxes of Pocky; Chocolate, Almond Crunch, and Green Tea. I liked Almond Crunch, myself.
We lost patience after 2:30, and went in. And Reako found us, thanks to the Corn Sign. Also, we had to get our swords and knives peacebonded, so we wouldn't hack others up. We all tended to get seperated a lot. but it was fun. A lot of the tales here have been told, but Neko got herself a set of Dragon Wings, and we discovered the greatest chairs in the world! They are like Hammocks shaped to fit you and hang from the ceiling!
My time holding the Sign was at the end, for we all took turns, and I held that sucker high and proud! All the Players in Costume loved it. I explained the glory of Corn to them, while we were trying to find the friends we had lost among the crowd.
It was Sean, Neko, and Myself in BW's car oin the way home. We Detoured to Sean's, where he got anime (Which Dia's PS2 rejected), Gitaroo Man (Mojo King Bee is my hero!), and Guilt Gear X (Morning fun for Sean and Amanda!). He also got a DBZ Manga. In it, one character attacks Piccolo. The Sound effect: "BA!GA!GA!GA!"
We returned to Dia's listening to a Wierd Al Tape. There was Pizza awaiting us, then Dragon Half, Slayers Try, and The Princess Bride. I then went to steal Dia's Comp. Then I took some sprites of Kate's Characters, and added the Cloak she had bought to them ^^
I got the large couch, and slept well; getting 5 1/2 hours. Morning was quiet and full of pancakes. About an hour after we awoke, we took Kate back to the bus station. And then BW, Sean, and I went back to Ohio. I hugged everyone, and was sad to see it end. I nearly cried; I didn't want you all to go.
We had some more fun at Sean's house, watching an ep of Rourin Keshin (Sp), and playing some Gitaroo man and Guilty Gear X. Then it was just BW and I again on our way home. *Sigh*
I gotta go eat. I'll finish up in a few

 | Man... This is amazing. I go about things in my traditional, no nonsense, analytical manner...and here you three come, barging out of the mists of obscurity, and I feel like an emotionless git for posting such a thing with...significantly less content and a definitely reduced sense of "feelings" emanating from it...
To be honest, I could type a positively florid little essay here about how I enjoyed spending time with people I definitely consider my friends at the ORF. However, I think it would pale in comparison to what I actually WANTED to say, and thusly, I'm not even going to try. I'm going to force you all to imagine that, and I'm gonna just sum it all up, right here, in a few sentences, or maybe a short paragraph.
You guys are great, and I'd be more than happy to spend time all together again as soon as is possible, and I'm gonna make damn sure it is. Everyone adds something to the group, and it's fantastic to get to contribute my own personal piece, whatever it happens to be...it meant a lot to me to spend this weekend together, and despite the heat, having to put up with my father, and everything else, I'd give anything I have, for the most part, to relive Saturday.
And to Kate, who unfortunately is still, I believe, on a bus on the way back to Durham, and thusly cannot be here to talk to me at the moment: I hope you get home safely...I can't wait to talk to you again, and even moreso, can't wait to see you again. In three words, I love you.

 | Re: Piracy Anyway, this was a severely groovy experience for me. Seriously, I'm happy beyond stating that I was able to meet you all, and that I was able to get to know those I didn't know too well.
Sean mentioned that I was a bit quiet. Well, I guess I should have explained that. YOu see, on my Way to BW's house, my car made many many angry sounds about half-way there. I was convinced that I was about to lose thousands of dollars in repairs, and have my Dad very upset with me; and I would have earned it. That's why I was being so stingy with my money. Otherwise, I would have bought a cloak like Kate's ^^
It consumed me on the trip there, BW can tell you that. But you guys helped me get over it. But by Sunday, I was consumed by worry again. And by having to leave you all... That's part of the reason I was so quiet at times. Also, because I was dead tired after only nine hours of sleep since thursday night, and all that excitement.
BUT! GOOD NEWS! It wasn't engine trouble! My dad helped me diagnos it! What happened was that my mom blew out a tire last tuesday, and she didn't put the lugnuts back in tightly enough. When I checked them, they were loose enough to unscrew by hand.
Had I driven much more, I would have lost a wheel. >____<
But I could jack the thing up, make sure the tire was in postion, and tighten then myself! So I fixed the problem for free! !
Anyway, that kinda dampened the experiencea bit, BUT I STILL HAD A @#%$ GREAT TIME! I WAS WORRIED ABOUT BEING DESTITUTE, AND STILL HAD SO MUCH FUN! ^______________________^
I was a huggling Machine. I loved that job. Only AM got away with just one Huggle. And yes, I have now proven beyond a doubt that Kate is the most huggable one in RPGWW. *Sage nod*
Lessee, some random notes. I did buy a hat. It's wide-brimmed Felt, and made to shape to the wearer's head. Also, I can fold it to take the shape of a tricornered nautical hat. Wai! It also gave me a horrid case of hat hair after I sweat so much. So most of you could not see my in the wild-haired glory that my sprite has.
Do I look like my Sprite? Sans his nekojin ears, mind you.
Also, when we were going to pay our way in, two guards upon the ramparts of the gate (They made their own village!) called me a Puritan for wearing all black clothing; saying that I was making sure things were being kept proper and somber. ^^ Those silly guards!
And Neko tried to haggle with some merchants, saying that the prices they were charging for garlands ($12) was highway robbery. They replied that there was no highway to rob from, and that twelve was a number of biblical significance. I told them that seven had even more significance. XP
Also, I too must give my love to Dia's Mom. She is damned groovy. Everyone was groovy! Damn I miss you guys! ;_;
NEXT YEAR, NOT ONLY SHALL WE GO TO THE FAIR, WE SHALL SEEK JOBS THERE AND BECOME COSTUMED PLAYERS OURSELVES!

 | KOOSH! Wow. This weekend was, as Bro said...DAMNED GROOVY. ^__^
Yeah, so Friday I get home from classes/work-study and within a few hours, the dog starts barking like crazy, so I went down to greet Brian and bro. I got two huge glomps and brought them in -- I was so worried about not being able to talk much, because I'm normally a very, very quiet person IRL, but I was able to do pretty damn well for myself. n_n In an hour or two, my dad and (real life) brother came home from Louisville, bringing Amanda with them, so then there were 4.
We tried to watch a bit of AKo and failed, so we went upstairs and bothered some people on the RyuunekoSan AIM account, and played Uno and Bullshit. DAMN those card games are fun! I bullshitted people so much! Actually, Amanda wanted to RP, and Bri and I wanted to bullshit, so we did both -- we RPed our characters playing bullshit! XD Well, I didn't, cuz I suck at acting, but it was quite fun to watch Amanda and Pervy do so. ^_^
We then went to the airport to pick up Mike. Amanda and I showed up at the one terminal, only to see the gates closed, so we walked down to the second terminal to see if we'd gone to the wrong one...we figured we hadn't when we got there, though, so we turned around and headed back -- it was, all in all, about a 5 or 10 minute detour, and when we got back, we spotted Mike. *^_^* Much huggling. n__n We brought him home, and watched the end of Dragonhalf with him (Bri and bro were watching it while we went to the airport -- they would have come, but we couldn't all fit in one car, and at the 'port they don't let you park outside the terminal, and short term parking is EXPENSIVE). Anyhow, we watched more anime and finally all crashed later at night/morning.
In the morning Amanda fixed us all some breakfast (thank you so much n_n) while acting the prim and proper British kitchen wench, which was quite amusing. XD I kinda helped (but not in the cooking!) and then got the materials for the CORN sign, which Amanda did a damn fine job of doing. ^_^ I attached the sign to a wooden pole using some canned corn labels. All during this Bri and Bro and Mike were playing some SSBM and Amanda and I took turns in joining in later -- I suck at that game, but I'm a skizzizleful button masher, woo!
We then headed up for Cincinnati's Greyhound station, to pick up Kate...I had no idea what she looked like, so I walked right past her. XD I was carrying the CORN sign and everyone was staring at me like I was some kinda nut. It was ace!
We then proceeded FARTHER north and ganked Sean from his house, and THEN drove the rest of the way to the ORF. Man, those directions were sweet. I mean, yeah we were a bit confused about where Sean was, but that's because we didn't follow the directions all the way through. Amanda helped us on that, though, despite everyone's "are we lost?"s. >:P
THE REN FAIRE. Man, oh man...good stuff, good stuff. I saw so many dragons, that I was constantly chirping "dwagon!" the whole time. There were dragons EVERYWHERE! @_@ And I harrassed the storekeeps --specifically the poor guy trying to sell Brian a $500 overcoatish thing ("Oooh...what a nice dress!" "You buy the shirt to go UNDER it so you can spend more money!")-- and I was asked "corn, milady?" at least a dozen times, and that was when I was holding the sign (which, having fulfilled its purpose as a meeting sign, now worked as a handy shade-maker).
We went to two shows, watched Brian liven up the Daring Devilini show, and got splatted in the Mud Show. Huway! The Mud Show was the Viking show the time we went, and as Vikings go RAH! (not "yea" or "woo hoo"), I had a perfectly legitimate excuse to yell out "RAWR!" over and over and over again! XD Oh, and at the Devilini show, bro and Bri kept heckling the people -- everything there was "OF DEATH" (there was a giant yellow ball...OF DEATH!), and we finally got them to say "OF DOOM" for something, I think the bed of spikes...OF DOOM! (bro: "it's DOOM, get it right!"). There was also a Dungeon of Doom, but 'jail' was $3, so no go there.
There were SOOOO many dwagons...I only had a measly little $25 for stuff...I wound up getting a little stuffed dwagon plushie with an OH RF shirt, and, um...I forget what all else I spent my money on. I think I gave it away as tips, and bought a bit of food/drink. Oh, and I got a flower waxed. ^//^;; And Amanda got one of the actors to buy her a rose! XD That was great...she did her accent the whole time and I loved it, and apparently so did the workers there!
Oooh, my arms are pink...it was such great weather! The last ORF I attended, it was all rainy, but today it was bright and sunny with a bright blue sky and dotted clouds! It was warm, but there was plenty of shade at the Faire -- I brought not nearly enough water for us all to drink, but there was (albeit expensive) water and other drinks at the Faire, so we survived. ^_^;
Oh, I forgot to mention the cornfields we drove past on the way to the ORF! I twisted around in my seat, waved back at the car Kate was in, and pointed over to them, giggling like mad. XD COOORN! There is much corn in Ohio!
We spent a little over 4 hours at the ORF, before it closed and we were kicked out. My dad picked us up from the ORF and bought the 4 of us in his car --Brian, LDC, Mike and I-- some drinks, and dropped us off at home. Mom bought some pizza then, and we watched Dragonhalf again while waiting on Pervy, other Brian, Amanda, and Sean. So Mike got to see the beginning of Dragonhalf, and Brian and LDC got to see it again. ^_^ We also watched some Slayers Try before Brian's dad picked him up (for all his, erm, strictness to be polite, Brian's dad was pretty damned cool to let him do this *nod nod*), and then watched The Princess Bride after he was gone. ^_^;; I kept forgetting that some of the watchers hadn't seen the movie before, and MSTed some spoilers...eep!
People started dropping off to sleep around then (Amanda was already asleep, I think, I think Sean was up chatting with her and then using the comp a bit), but a few of us stayed up to watch Geobreeders (we got to watch DVDs, btw, because bro threatened my REAL brother, or something, to get the PS2 back, which he'd borrowed XD). I was one of them, but I kinda fell asleep on the couch, so all I remember is a wai green-haired catgirl, and a group of wai ebil kitties on a tank. That's okay, though, because I was comfy, and so I had a nice little nap before dragging myself off to bed. Amanda had commandeered both my blankets, so I had to make do on a thin throw and a teddy bear as a pillow until some point in the night when her shuffling woke me up and indicated she was also awake, so I borrowed a blanket and slept better.
This morning we woke up and I *attempted* to make some pancakes, and did an even worse job than I *normally* do. I almost set off the fire alarm...WOO! Mike was still wearing his tail this morning, too! XD We had time to eat and play some games before having to leave to drop LDC off at the bus station...Brian, bro, and Sean headed off north toward their respective homes (Bri was instrumental in getting Sean around, and I thank him for that), and then we (Mom, Mike, Amanda, and I) drove from Cincy down to Amanda's college and dropped her off. We had a bite to eat and jumped online for a tiny bit to harrass people before Mike had to be taken to the airport... v.v
Blah! We HAVE TO DO THIS AGAIN. I think I was the most talkative around people I've ever been in my life. This weekend was so facking awesome -- you all are just so damned nifty! n_n I haven't had so much fun at a large social gathering...ever, I think. You people are just so...great. n_n I really, really enjoyed meeting and spending time with all of you, even if I didn't get to talk to everyone quite so much (I know I hardly got to talk to you at all, Reako, I regret that). You all can make simple things like playing video games or uno so much facking fun. I never had to feel self-conscious or nervous the whole time you were here. n_n And I finally got real life glomps! *snuggles all* I can't wait till the next time we plan to meet up...really, I just can't say how awesome this weekend was...saying it was totally sweet doesn't even begin to cut it. ^_^;;
Thank you, each and every one of you, for coming to this, and livening my weekend and lightening a little spot of my life.
n_n Thank you. Hello, my name is Dia. I'm a dragongirl, and I bite. RAWR!

 | Ren fairs sound cool Are there any fairs in England? Jak doesn't know of any and I've never heard of one, but they sound so much fun! I want to buy swords! Of course getting them past Her Majesty's Customs is going to be impossible, but I'll try anyway! Maybe in a year when I'm at university in the states (hopefully) I'll be able to come to one. | Choark Closet Intellectual Posts: 878 (9/9/02 8:26 am) Reply | Edit | Del
 | Well Unless some small towns pull em off, no, no one does these Ren Fair's in England. I think we have some very un-cool laws against them or something : / Like buying swords is legal, however, carrying them from the shop to your house is illegal.
And they don't really allow swords to be shipped to ya house either... so work that out : )
However, you missed some HUGE Scottish festival in my town, which I unforantly missed as well. Its a huge scottish gathering were we all dress in kilts (or not) Get pissed drunk (or not) and do odd things like Toss huge pieces of Wood everywhere and stuff...
... But I didn't get to go, and it happens once every 10 years so its unlikely we'll get to do that anytime soon either... But its in a simlar sort of view as this.. expect as its my town, means there's not quite as much stuff to buy.
Best bet for us is to check all the small towns or even cities and see what stuff they hold and see if we can ever meet up that way.
>> Places with castles sometmes do some weird @#%$.. *shrugs*
OR we can all somehow save up for the next Ren Faire : ) Or make sure we can get to this anime concention-gatherning-thing. Either way, I can't see much that might happen to drag all the americans over here for a change.
(Though theer may be a crime against bringing too many American girls int the country.. imagine the glomping that would happen everytime they heard an English accent O_o )
Not so I can get drunk and be annoying to all of you of course. Or not so i can show you all my dancing. Which though Jak got to see, he has yet to see my skils in DDR
P.S. Jak.. my average has gone up it seems. I can complete 4 feet with a B almost all the time now : )
OH! Amanda's English accent was funny! XD I nearly died laughing last night when I heard it XD
Whats weird is that it was perfect... a perfect FAKE accent. heard English girls have to Fake that accent, but it was very amusing ^_^
So yeah... >> I'm glad you all had the best time of your lives and all : ) And I'll make sure if we all gather together again.. and I'm invlovled somehow.. I'll make it even better!

 | Okay... I've had my sleep and my classes and I'm ready to talk ^_^
The trip down wasn't so bad, on the way I gave Dia a call on the phone. I could hear a bunch of people shouting 'KATE!" In the background and stuff so that was fun being able to chat with Dia and all, unfortunately I got cut off somehow.
The ride was long and overnight, and for the record, no I didn't get any sleep on the bus, no matter how hard I tried, I just couldd not get comfortable. I had no blanket or pillow to put my head on and the driver had the AC set on "Polar" so those things plus a talkative guy from Texas or something kept me up all night. Later after a transfer to another bus, I found myself sitting in front of a crazy old man that snored like a chainsaw, not even my CD player could drown him out. >.<
I finally get into the station about an hour early (or so it seems that way since I had originally read my ticket wrong) and call up Dia again to say that I was there. While waiting for them to show up, I stepped into the bathroom to brush my hair and stuff. When I step out, I see Amanda, Dia, Pervy, and Brian(walker) walking by with the corn sign. The didn't see me the first time so I had to chase after them.
Meeting everyone was great, I quickly found out who was Pervy, as he went and glomped me on site. Everyone was so nice ^_^. We all piled into the cars and went to pick up Sean, who was dressed so totally badass in his swordsman outfit (I made sure to get a picture) and I also got to look at his fanart (I hope someone scanned it, it looks sweet). We headed to the fair after that. Pervy was nice and loaned me his cutlass, which was pretty long, but fotunately not long enouigh to drag along on the ground due to my shortness.
I had pocky for the first time ever in my life. o_o It was really good, I need to find somewhere to buy some more. AM Brian also joined us right before we went in. ....*^_^* We did a bit of shopping, one of the best expereinces came when we so totally pissed off the vendor in the first clothing stall thingy we went too. I just could NOT stop laughing. The clothing was expensive, very very expensive as we all found out. A nice red mage hat was like $75! And the cloaks from the first store were like $200 something! I was fortunate to find a nice one for like half that price at another store, it's black on the outside with a green velvety sort of material on the inside and a silver clasp (half of which fell off on the way home, but I didn't lose it so I'll probably just sew it back on).
I also found myself a cheap pewter or some sort of metal dragon statue (I collect those all the time) and a nice shiney crystal thing (SHINEY! WEE!) Which I'll hang up in my dorm somewhere. o_o
One of the best parts there had to be the Daring Devilini show where Brian(Walker) was called up to stand on top of a woman lying on a bed of nails. They kept shouting out things like "The big yellow ball of death!" but we all reminded them that it was DOOM not death. Their show reminded me of one of our more crazy chats o_o The mud show was also excellent especially since it gave us the opportunity to shout RAWR! over and over again ^_^
They had a flower boy there, he looked like an incubus. Anyways, it seemed as if the festival ended all too quickly >.< They should have it stay on later! Until like 8:00 or something where people can REALLY drink! JEEZE! Either way after that, we all headed back to Dia's house, AM Brian got to come with us because his dad gave him a break and stuff. We watched a bit of dragonhalf and Slayers Try before Brian had to leave (wAAAAAH ;_; ) and later watched the Princess Bride and saw Sean play Gitaroo Man (Not a bad looking game, well despite that the main character is just plain ugly, and I don't mean that by badly drawn, I just mean UGLY). The music for that game's cool though, I want the music.
Dia's mom was so nice to have let me stay there, really nice and she makes great pancakes too! Amanda sounds so CUTE when she speaks Japanese! ^-^ You guys were all really nice and I'm sorry if I didn't seem that talkative, I guess I was either a little shy or completely overwhelmed that I was actually there in front of you all!
And finally, a little tidbit about the ride back. My cloak was far too big to put into my backpack, so I had to fold it up and carry it under my arm. I later discovered that wearing it on the bus helped keep me very warm since greyhound busses tend to have killer AC. I also discovered that if I wore my cloak with the hood down and emitted a bit of garbled Japanese every now and then, people won't want to sit in the seat next to you! ^_^ I had a blast and I hope I can do it again sometime or meet more of you people somehow. If anything, I'll be certain to try to make it to the otakon again.

And now a random story.
Dia had found her Chinese Yoyo the first day. This was the toy of choice for awhile; everyone wanted to play with the yoyo. Soon, it became the weapon of choice; as we attacked each other with it.
To counter it, I called upon the ancient technique of Breaking Point. I simply tapped the person on the forehead, and declared "Breaking Point". And thus achieved victory. This became my way of disciplining those who had iit coming, a touch attack rendering their limbs or their lives void.
Also, now that Kate has seen them, you all may ^^ The first 16 bit Garment I've made ^^

Unfortunately, it's a wee bit expensive to go over at that time of year...I might drop by London as part of a class, however, or maybe with my Granma on the way back from visiting fam in France.
Anyway, we'll almost definately be doing the Ren Faire thang again next year...at least I know I will. ^_^ So if anyone wants to come...SAVE UP YA DANG MONEY! :P

If I get into Duke (where I'm applying early) I'll definately see some of you (DC, you got more than a year left?) and all the londoners are thinking about a big trip together to areas of the states to meet as many peeps as possible. More details to come...
